A big hit in Japan during the PlayStation’s early days, the Arc the Lad series hasn’t endured quite as well as other JPRGs. However, the soundtrack to the first three games — masterminded by Masahiro Andoh — has a style all its own. In fact, these games’ battle themes sound nothing like most other battle themes you’ll here in any era RPG. Yep, that’s what this episode is about: 30 minutes of battle music that doesn’t sound anything like battle music.
